Doctors urge not to abuse red meat in order to avoid negative health consequences in the future.

Scientists and nutritionists are still debating the benefits and harms of red meat. The product is rich in protein, which helps build muscle mass and maintain normal metabolism. It also enriches the body with B vitamins, iron, phosphorus, zinc and magnesium.

But, despite all the useful properties, doctors advise not to get carried away with this product. Judging by the results of a recent study, women are at particular risk. As it turned out, regular consumption of red meat increases the risk of developing diseases of the cardiovascular system and dementia.

Cardiologists came to these conclusions after analyzing the medical records of about 100,000 women after the age of 50 for twenty years. For example, more than 7,500 women died from cancer, 7,000 from heart problems, and about 2,700 from dementia.

Scientists also investigated the connection between diseases and the proteins that people ate. It turned out that women who consume proteins from plant products were 9% less likely to suffer from these diseases.

It is worth noting that the opinions of doctors regarding the danger of meat differ. Yes, damage exists. However, some experts are also convinced that heredity and a person’s lifestyle have the greatest influence on susceptibility to heart disorders, diabetes and cancer.

It is noteworthy that earlier experts from North America and Europe called the facts about the harm of meat too convincing. In the course of their own research, they came to the conclusion that the use of products of animal origin has a negligible effect on the development of these diseases.

Experts note that many factors affect a person’s health throughout his life. First of all, it is nutrition, heredity, activity level, etc. To avoid problems in the future, doctors recommend adding proteins of animal and plant origin to the diet, giving up junk food, alcohol and smoking.
