Every fifth woman gains weight after marriage during the first year of marriage, according to the popular British tabloid The Daily Mail.

The study involved 300 women. As it turned out, every fifth participant recovered by 9.5 kilograms during the first year of marriage.
The reasons for such a sharp weight gain can be different. But in 42% of cases, women simply relaxed after marriage and imperceptibly gained extra pounds.

Many newly-married wives find it difficult to stick to healthy eating habits after marriage. And 25% of the study admitted that they recovered due to emotional overeating. Food replaced their thrills, which gradually faded away after the wedding.

22% of participants admitted that they stopped monitoring their diet, as they no longer had the need to impress their man.

According to scientists, a sharp weight gain after marriage had a negative impact on relationships between partners, and in 21% of cases it was extra pounds that caused a divorce.
