Avitaminosis in the big city: how to help the body in spring

In the spring, urban residents not only experience permanent fatigue, drowsiness, and observe a deterioration in their appearance, but are also more prone to seasonal depression. All these are the consequences of a lack of vitamins in the body — hypovitaminosis, which began in the winter.

Avitaminosis

Thus, the content of vitamin D in the body of a Ukrainian is on average 2 times lower than that of a resident of neighboring European countries, and in winter this figure is even half as much as in summer.

With proper nutrition, lack of stress and good ecology, the resource of the human body is designed for 130 years of quality life. Scientists have determined that most centenarians live in Italy and Japan, and, first of all, this is due to nutrition.

Larisa Boychenko

Larisa Boychenko, gastroenterologist, nutritionist:

“Why do we suffer from hypovitaminosis? Because in winter we are limited to seasonal products and eat little fruits, vegetables and greens. But it is fresh plant products that are a complete source of vitamins and minerals.

In order to get enough of them, you need to eat vegetables, fruits, herbs and grain products 4 times a day. For example, in the morning it is whole grain porridge with vegetable or fruit salad, second breakfast is fruit, lunch is a salad of raw vegetables, and for dinner, thermally processed vegetables. If you eat vegetables and fruits in this mode, this is quite enough to maintain a vitamin balance in a big city. Here freshly squeezed juices come to our aid, because they are a concentrate of everything that needs to be eaten.

Freshly squeezed juices are food, not drink. If the juice is from vegetables, then consider it a vegetable salad and combine it with meat, fish, porridge, if the juice is from fruits, then it should be drunk separately from other dishes. The only possible neighbor is a fermented milk product in a small amount. The dose of juice is individual for each person and depends on height and weight. If, for example, you eat porridge for breakfast, then the portion of juice may be smaller than usual so that the total amount of food does not exceed 300–400 ml. For a second breakfast, you can afford a full portion of juice.

Remember that vitamins from juice are not always absorbed by the body in full. This is hindered by competitors — heavy metals that we inhale every day, free radicals that “give” us electronic gadgets. Keep in mind that the body absorbs vitamins and microelements only from local vegetables and fruits that are typical for the region where a person lives. Getting used to exotic foods and the ability to absorb nutrients from them occurs after six months of regular use (2 times a week).

With a sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals in the diet, the level of human health increases by an order of magnitude. Be sure to listen to yourself and the body will respond to you with good health, vivacity and energy.

To make the fight against hypovitaminosis complete and not a hassle, residents of big cities cannot do without Philips innovative solutions for juicing — the HR1895 auger juicer and the HR 1922 juicer.

fresh juices

Thanks to the HR1895 auger juicer, you can make fresh juice from soft fruits, berries, herbs and even nuts. Extraction of juice from the ingredients occurs by squeezing the fruit, so the juice contains a maximum of nutrients. The compact size of the device — 112 mm, will significantly save space in the kitchen.

It is now possible to adjust the consistency of the juice yourself — transparent with a low fiber content or thicker with a high one — now it is possible in the HR 1922 juicer with FiberBoost technology. All you need to do is select the desired amount of pulp before cooking. The new QuickClean and PreClean technologies make it easy to clean the appliance, and the polished sieve allows you to remove the pulp with a regular sponge.
